August 21, 2010, a Saturday
Parker (K2), Colorado, USA
— Laundry and went out to celebrate J's B-day w/SJ&DilK, et al
We got up around our usual time. After my usual breakfast, I helped J with her MacBook Pro. We couldn't figure out what was wrong, so she called Apple Tech Support. We prepped the laundry and I packed up my laptop. I left by myself around 9:10 in the Jeep.
I went to the One Stop Coin Laundry in Parker to do our laundry. After I got the laundry started, I took advantage of their free Wi-Fi to do things online. After I put the laundry in the dryers, I left and went to Hobby Lobby to pick up some framing supplies. I returned to the One Stop Coin Laundry and did some computer work while the dryers finished. J called to let me know that she had to reinstall her operating system, and now her Mac works just fine. However, she'll have to download a bunch of Software Updates to get it back up to date.
I returned to the RV around 11:00 and hung up some things. Then I left by myself in the Jeep.
I went to Crossroads Barbershop to get my hair cut. Saturday mornings aren't the best time to go to a barbershop, but it was convenient this time. Fortunately, one barber was standing by his chair waiting for me to arrive, so I didn't have to wait. He did a decent job on the sides and back, but he got the front too short.
I returned to the RV and took a shower to wash out the nasty goop the guy sprayed on my hair while he was cutting it and also to wash out the tiny pieces of hair that would drive me nuts later in the day if I didn't take care of it now. We left in the Jeep around 11:55.
We went to the Parker Library to drop off and pick up some things.
We went to Village Inn in Parker around 12:10 to use another one of J's special birthday deals: a buy-one-get-one-free entree. J got a Veggie Omelet and I got a very tasty Avocado Swiss Chicken sandwich (Grilled chicken breast, sautéed onions, green peppers, mushrooms, sliced avocado, tomato, and Swiss cheese on a grilled bun). While we were there, J tried to download her Software Updates using their free Wi-Fi, but the estimated time to get everything was too long so instead she uploaded images to her photography website.
We went to King Soopers around 1:20 to do some major grocery shopping. I started to pick up my lunch stuff while J went to the Starbucks area in the store to start downloading the Software Updates using their free Wi-Fi. The connection was better, but the estimated time to get everything was still too long, so she decided to upload more images to her photography website. After I finished getting my stuff, I went to the Starbucks area to watch J's computer while she picked up the rest of the things we needed. I finished a blog entry and worked up another.
We stopped at the Wild Bird Center to pick up a larger hummingbird feeder so we won't have to keep refilling it as often.
We returned to the RV around 3:15. I did some file management on my external hard drives, then started to do a backup. I unplugged the drain in the Toddy Cold Brew System at 3:55 and started it draining into a 4-cup (1l) measuring cup. I didn't use the decanter that's included with the Toddy Cold Brew System because it's too big to conveniently fit into our small refrigerator. Instead, I'll drain the concentrate into the measuring cup because it's big enough to capture all of the concentrate and also has a wide enough top to support the brewing system. Then I'll transfer the concentrate to a 32 fl oz (1l) Nalgene bottle that'll fit into the refrigerator. While the concentrate was dripping out, I put away the rest of my laundry and cleaned up the RV a bit. Around 4:25, I stopped collecting the coffee concentrate from the Toddy Cold Brew System after it seemed to have finally stopped dripping. I got about 24 fl oz (710ml), which was exactly half of what the instructions indicated a regular batch was supposed to produce (48 fl oz or 1420ml). (Recall that I had made half a batch.) We left in the Jeep around 4:50.
We went to the Hickory House in Parker to celebrate J's b-day (early) with SJ&DilK (J's Son J and Daughter-in-law K) and the grandkids and J's father, F, joined us too. J and I each got the Early Bird Special Smoked Pork Diner, but J got a baked potato and I got fries.
We returned to the RV briefly around 6:45 so J could put away her leftovers and pick up her MacBook Pro.
We went to SJ&DilK's (J's Son J and Daughter-in-law K's) place to visit some more and so J could use their fast Wi-Fi to get her Software Updates. The connection was nice and fast and J was able to get everything downloaded that she needed and we had a nice visit too.
We returned to the RV around 8:40 and I dropped off J.
I went to Office Depot to pick up some labels for the images that I will frame.
I returned to the RV around 9:00 and went through the packages that we picked up at SJ&DilK's. I did some computer work before going to bed.
