August 22, 2010, a Sunday
Parker (K2), Colorado, USA
— Had Toddy Cold Brew coffee, had lunch out, and framed and matted prints
I got up before J and did some computer work. After J got up, I made my first mug of coffee from the Toddy Cold Brew System coffee concentrate. I first put in 1/4 cup (59ml) of concentrate in my mug then I put in 1/2 cup (118ml) of hot water: 1 part concentrate to 2 parts water. The recommendation is for 1 part concentrate to 3 parts water, but because I like strong coffee, I thought I'd start off with it stronger. It was strong, but it didn't have the normal kick while drinking it. The Toddy Cold Brew System makes coffee that has about 67% less acid than coffee brewed using hot water, so maybe that's what I'm missing. I added another 1/4 cup (59ml) of concentrate and 3/4 cup (177ml) of hot water (a 1 to 3 ratio) and that filled up my Bodum Bistro Double-Wall Mug. Now the coffee was just bland. I polished a blog entry and took it live. I started to mat the six prints that I was going to frame around 9:15. I was done framing them, sans the wire holders, by 12:05. We left in the Jeep at 12:22.
We went to Red Robin for lunch to use yet another one of J's birthday coupons. This one was for one free entree for the birthday girl, and she got a Cobb Salad ("Crisp mixed greens with tender grilled chicken breast, applewood smoked bacon, hard-boiled egg, avocado, black olives, ripe tomatoes and crumbled Bleu cheese. Served with warm garlic focaccia bread & your choice of dressing."). I got a California Chicken Sandwich ("A tender, juicy grilled chicken breast topped with Provolone cheese, zesty guacamole, applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles & mayo. This chic combination is beautiful & flavorful!"). The food was great! J passed on the birthday song by the wait staff, but accepted the special birthday Sunday. It had vanilla ice cream, fudge, whipped cream with jimmies and a cherry on top, and it was a great way to finish the meal.
We returned to the RV briefly around 1:35 so J could drop off her leftovers.
We went to SJ&DilK's (J's Son J and Daughter-in-law K's) place to pick up the defective playground ball that we had given GJ (grandson J, age 5) for his birthday — it had had a slow leak since we gave it to him. GJ was inside when we arrived, and he invited me to go out with him to help him, GA (grandson A, age 8.5), and GS (granddaughter S, age 3) catch insects, mainly grasshoppers. GA had a nice praying mantis in his jar.
We went to Target to get a replacement playground ball for GJ.
Then I dropped J off at WalMart so she could pick up some things while I went to Home Depot to return the 6-foot extension cord I didn't use for the recent rewiring.
We returned to the RV around 2:55 and I attached the hanging hardware to the framed prints then matted up the rest of my prints.
I had dinner of lunch stuff around 5:25, then finished preparing my matted prints. DilK came to pick up J to go for ice cream around 6:55 as I was loading things into the Jeep to take to the gallery and my storage unit. I left in the Jeep by myself at 7:00.
I went to the Lukas Liquor Superstore near Park Meadows to pick up supplies. They were closed, so ...
I went to Tipsy's Liquor World (near C-470 and Bowles Ave) to pick up some supplies.
I reached The Majestic Gallery in Idaho Springs, Colorado, around 8:20. I put my new matted prints in the bin with my older matted prints, then took down some of my older framed prints from the wall and hung up my new framed prints. Then I packed up the old framed prints and got ready to leave. I looked up the gate hours for my storage unit, and I wouldn't make it there in time tonight. :( I left around 9:35.
I returned to the RV around 10:35, checked email, and went to bed.
