— Took GS to The Wildlife Experience and tried my new Toddy Cold Brew System
We got up around 6:15. After I had my normal breakfast, I processed three images for the blog then did some computer work. I left in the Jeep by myself around 9:55.
I went to a local Fastenal store to pick up some 1/4-20 knobs I had ordered for my hummingbird flash photography setup.
Then I went to my storage unit to drop off my Epson R2880 printer and to pick up framing supplies and hard drives.
I returned to the RV around 10:50. We left in the Jeep around 11:10.
We went to SJ&DilK's (J's Son J and Daughter-in-law K) to pick up GS (granddaughter S, age 3).
We went to Chili's for lunch. I had a Bacon Cheeseburger and J had Ribs. We started with a free order of chips and queso. The queso was much darker than I had ever seen it before, but it was very tasty. The burger was just so-so and J liked her ribs.
We took GS to The Wildlife Experience around 12:45. We started with the traveling National Geographic CritterCam exhibit exhibit. CritterCams are video cameras that are temporarily attached to animals to study their behavior, and they have been used to study animals on land and in the water. The footage from the marine animals was particularly interesting. Then we went through the Globeology exhibit that featured ecosystems around the world and had (stuffed) animals and interactive displays. We were really impressed by the exhibit. GS loved going up and down, over and over again, the winding path through it, and J and I got plenty of exercise following GS around! Then we went to the special kids area. J helped GS with a craft project while I watched a National Geographic film on Siberian Tigers. We left around 3:45, mainly to get GS home in time for her next appointment. She would have loved to have stayed longer.
We returned GS and visited briefly with SJ (J's Son J) who was home. We also picked up some more packages that had been delivered here for us.
We returned to the RV around 4:15 and J was exhausted. We opened up our packages, and I started to backup some data onto one of the new hard drives that had been delivered. I completed a blog entry and took it live.
I had dinner by myself around 5:40 of my leftover chili because J wasn't hungry.
After dinner, I washed the Toddy Cold Brew System and then started to brew my first batch of coffee concentrate in it. I brewed half of the standard recipe (right) because I didn't want to waste more than half a pound (0.23kg) of good coffee if I didn't like the result. It took quite a while to brew the first batch, mainly because I had to devise a way to weigh the ground coffee using our postage scale. After I got the coffee brewing, I started to work up a blog entry. Just before we were going to turn in for the night, J's MacBook Pro started acting up. The menu bar flashed after she moused over it and none of her desktop icons were being displayed. I tried to help her debug and fix the problem by Googling things for her, but I couldn't find any mention of her particular problem.

Toddy Cold Brew Recipe
- Add (1) one cup of water into the bottom of the Toddy brewing container.
- Add (1/2) half-pound coarsely ground coffee. When pouring the water over the grounds, the water should be added gently, in a circular motion, to make sure all the grounds get wet and there are no dry pockets.
- Slowly pour (4) four cups of water over the grounds, then add the remaining (1/2) half pound ground coffee.
- Slowly pour (3) three additional cups of water over the grounds. Finally, wait five minutes and slowly add (1) one cup of water.
- DO NOT STIR. Lightly tap the topmost grounds with the back of a spoon to ensure all grounds get wet.
- Allow to cold brew for 12 hours before draining.
