— Photographed Bridal Veil Falls
We got up a little earlier than usual after not sleeping well because of the strong winds overnight. I made coffee to go and J started a mug of tea steeping and we left in the Jeep around 7:20.
I had Clif Bars for breakfast on our way to photograph Bridal Veil Falls. The falls face the west, and by getting there early in the morning, they're nicely shaded. We stopped first at the overlook to get an overall view of the falls (far left), then we went to Nunns Park to get up close to the falls. We hiked up the steep hillside to reach the bottom of the larger falls, and then photographed from there (near left). For both images, I used a polarizer to reduce the reflections off the wet rocks and a 3-stop solid ND (neutral density) filter to increase the exposure time to enhance the sense of motion in the water.
We headed back up the Alpine Loop and stopped above Sundance to photograph the red maples on the mountains (left).
Then we went to the Kneader's in Pleasant Grove, near Orem, at 11:35 to have lunch and to go online. I had a Turkey Bacon Avocado Sandwich on Focaccia and J had a small bowl of Artichoke Portobello Soup and an Avocado Salad. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, they didn't have Wi-Fi, so we went online using the fast Verizon Broadband Access signal. I worked up a blog entry and took it live. I did some computer work, then we left around 1:25.
We stopped at the Jiffy Lube in American Fork around 1:40 to get an oil change in the Jeep. They also replaced a brake light that had been out for a while. We got a free car wash with the deal, so ...
We went to the Firehouse Car Wash in American Fork to get a free car wash. The Jeep was looking good! We left around 2:15.
We went to Cabela's in Lehi around 2:30 because my order had arrived at the store. Before picking it up, I looked at clothes again. The North Face Druid fleece sleeves are a bit short as I would expect from a Medium and not a Medium Tall. J picked up some liner gloves. We left around 3:15.
We returned to the RV around 3:55 and I started to drain the coffee concentrate from the Toddy Cold Brew System. I opened up my package from Cabela's, downloaded the images I took this morning, then downselected them in Capture One (C1).
We had dinner around 5:40 of the leftover Sampler from Fazoli's and a fresh garden salad.
We left in the Jeep around 6:25.
We went to Wasatch Mountain State Park, mainly to look for moose. We didn't see any, so I stopped to photograph some red maple leaves (left).
We returned to the RV around 8:15 and I emptied the last measuring cup of coffee concentrate from the Toddy Cold Brew System. I was surprised to have gotten about 52 fl oz (about 1.54l) of concentrate instead of my usual 46 fl oz (1.36l) or even the 48 fl oz (1.42l) prescribed by the recipe! I think I added just a little more water than the recipe called for, and I used our new Galleyware Silicone Lid to cover the Toddy Cold Brew System instead of using plastic wrap like I had been to try to cut down on evaporation. I downloaded the images I took tonight and downselected them in Capture One (C1) before going to bed.
