We took it easy this morning. Because we hadn't gone grocery shopping yesterday to buy milk, I had a bowl of Quaker Natural Granola - Oats & Honey & Raisins with Milkman powdered milk. I tried to use the Garmin WebUpdater to update the software in our Garmin eTrex Venture HC GPS, but the GPS wouldn't stay powered up long enough. I've tried doing a master reset of the GPS several times by holding down the Page, Enter, and Power buttons. The unit asks if I'd like to clear all user data, and when I say "Yes," it promptly powers down. If I just try to power it up, it searches for satellites, and before it finds enough to get a position fix, it powers down. So, it's not a very useful device right now. I started to prep the RV to move.

I went into Cabela's around 10:25 to pick up a Cabela's Outfitter Wooltimate Fleece Stocking Cap in Outfitter Camo and a bottle of Sawyer Premium Insect Repellent for Clothing with Permethrin. I looked at camo gloves and found some that fit well, but I didn't like the camo patterns that were available in the store.

I returned to the RV around 11:10. We dumped the RV at the free dump station at Cabela's then we took on fresh water. This has been a great place to stay! While taking on water, I replaced the latch for the bottom drawer in the kitchen, and boy is it nice to have that working properly! It was getting really old to have to reset the latch manually because that required removing the drawer completely. J left in the Jeep around 11:40 to go to the Post Office and I tried to find out exactly where the Smith's was where we were going to meet. J had printed out a Google map with turn-by-turn directions and I was using Bossy, our Garmin nüvi 350 GPS, and she didn't know about the new grocery store and couldn't handle the address that J had given me. I ended up using a fairly detailed map of the area to get me to where I thought the store was based on J's map that I had seen briefly. I finally left around 11:50.

I reached the Smith's Marketplace, Highland, around noon and went in to buy things so I could have my regular lunch. The store was just like the Fred Meyer's stores in Alaska! There was a clothing section on the left and a nice, huge, grocery section on the right. Later, J said it was the best grocery store she's been to in a long time. I finished shopping around 12:10 and went back to the RV. J was pulling in as I was getting close to the RV, and she went directly into the store to do a major shopping haul.

I had lunch around 12:20 and went online through a slowish National Access signal. I ordered some Cabela's Scent-Lok Thinsulate Gloves in Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity and some thermal tops to match the bottoms that I had purchased in the store. The thermal tops were reduced from the regular price, but not an additional 50% off like in the store. J finished shopping and we topped off the RV and the Jeep at the gas station there at $2.779/gal using our 10¢ discount on both. We left around 1:55 with me in the RV and J following in the Jeep.

We went to the Timp Tire in Highland around 2:05 to get propane. After we took on propane and hooked up the Jeep to tow, J discovered a fast, open Wi-Fi network so we stayed there to take advantage of it. J was finally able to download the update for her iPhone that she had been trying to get for the last week or so. We also checked on the winning images for the September monthly competition of the Mile High Wildlife Photography Club (MHWPC). J came in First in Masters Wildlife with her Leap Of Faith (below left), and I came in Second in Masters Wildlife with my Southwestern Myotis Over Water (below right). J came in Second in Master Scenic with her Paintbrush Patterns (bottom left), and I came in Second in Masters Wildlife — Captive or Controlled with my Hypomelanistic Western Diamondback Rattlesnake (bottom right). We got underway around 3:35.



We headed up into the Wasatch Mountains to get situated to photograph the fall colors. J has been wanting to photograph the red maples and yellow aspens here for years, and I must say I'm looking forward to it too because the mostly yellow aspens in Colorado can get monotonous. We started to see some nice color as we drove up the Alpine Loop into the Uinta National Forest. :)

We found a nice place to boondock along the Alpine Loop and were leveled by 4:35, just before it started to rain. There's no Verizon Wireless signal where we are, so we don't have internet access. The rain didn't last long. I worked on a blog entry then started to make dinner. We're both really liking our new Galleyware 12-pc. Non-Stick Cookware Set. It's much easier to get the pots in and out of the cabinet than our old standard cookware with fixed handles that didn't stack very well, and it's also easier to clean them when we're done.

We had dinner around 6:00 of Bertolli Shrimp Scampi & Linguini and Texas Toast. I had a glass of Charles Shaw Sauvignon Blanc with dinner. I think it was the first time I've had it, and it was on the fruity side. It was nice to relax over dinner while enjoying our new mountain surroundings.

After dinner, I finished the blog entry and did some computer work.
