May 6, 2010, a Thursday
near Goblin Valley State Park, Utah, USA
— A windy day
We awoke shortly before the 5:30 alarm, and because the wind was still blowing like crazy, we turned off the alarm and went back to sleep.

We got up around our normal time and the wind was still blowing like crazy. I had my normal breakfast then worked up a blog entry. We left around 10:05 in the Jeep to go look for a Verizon Wireless signal so we could go online.

When we stopped where there was a decent Verizon Wireless signal, I realized that I had forgotten my USB stick to go online. :( J lent me hers, and I was able to share the internet connection with her using a computer-to-computer wireless network. Well, it worked for a few minutes until the weak Verizon Wireless signal got interrupted. So, we moved to look for a stronger signal. This time, J used her stick to go online, but she wasn't able to share the connection through a computer-to-computer wireless network. Because we were fairly close to the RV, ...

We returned to the RV so I could pick up my USB stick, then we left again in the Jeep.

We stopped where there was a decent Verizon Wireless signal and went online through the slow National Access signal.

We returned to the RV around 12:15 and I had my normal lunch. Then I made a batch of Teriyaki Marinade. I put the flatiron steak into a gallon-sized Ziploc bag then poured the marinade in the bag. Then I put the bag down without thinking much about it until I realized that the marinade was spilling out of the bag and down the front of the drawers to the left of our stove. After yelling a few expletives and picking up the bag so it was no longer dumping its contents, I discovered that the marinade had gotten inside the bottom two drawers too! I took the contents out of those drawers and cleaned up the spilled marinade the best I could. I left the contents out and the drawers open so they could dry. I processed RAW images in Capture One (C1) from earlier this year to adjust exposure and white balance and then create TIFF files after assigning final file names. I cut a new drawer liner from some non-slip padding for the bottom drawer and decided not to reline the middle drawer because we didn't have enough of the liner for a single piece. Because I had the non-slip padding out, I replaced the liner in the cabinet in the bathroom and also in the small counter-top corner cabinet in the kitchen. J had put the latter two on my honey-do list a while ago, so she was glad they finally got replaced. We watched the first half of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past on DVD. It's a very entertaining romantic comedy. I set up our grill and got it heating then made a batch of Grilled Cheesy Potatoes. I kicked them up a notch by adding some garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh-ground black pepper, then started grilling the potatoes immediately. While they were cooking, I downselected images from earlier this year. When I went out to turn the potatoes over, I discovered that the grill had gone out. Because I had no idea when it had gone out, I just pretended that I started cooking it right then. After the potatoes were finished, I grilled the marinated flatiron steak.

We had dinner around 6:40 of the grilled flatiron steak, the grilled cheesy potatoes, and some microwaved frozen broccoli, and I must say that it was excellent. The glass of Charles Shaw Merlot was a perfect accompaniment.

After dinner, I downselected images from earlier this year. Then we watched the rest of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past on DVD. I must have really enjoyed it because J said she hadn't heard me laugh so much in a long time.
