March 3, 2010, a Wednesday
Joshua Tree National Park (Jumbo Rock), California, USA
— Lunch in town then photographed some Joshua tree blooms
Because the forecast was for clear skies this morning, and to give J a break from all of the early morning activity, I stayed in bed until she stirred around 6:30. I processed an image for the blog and incorporated it into the blog entry. I did some computer work. We packed up our computers and left in the Jeep around 11:25.

We went to the Post Office in Twentynine Palms at 11:50 so J could send off the printer inks that she sold yesterday on eBay.

We went to Edchada's (Mexican Restaurant) around noon for lunch. We had received mixed reviews about it (one good, one bad), so we were a bit leery to go there. We both ordered a lunch special. I got a chicken enchilada with rice and beans and J got a chili relleno with two orders of rice. The chips and salsa were good, and the food was average.

We went to McDonald's in town around 1:00 to use their free WiFi. It took way too long for me to try to connect to it, so I just used the nice Verizon Wireless Broadband signal and J used the McDonald's WiFi. We left around 3:15!

We returned to the RV around 3:35 and went over to visit with B&A. A told us about a nice Joshua tree bloom in the campground, so we all walked over to look at it. J went back to get the Jeep and our camera gear. The bloom was a bit high, so I wasn't too excited about photographing it, especially because it was still opening. B&A headed back to their campsite, then I decided to take some shots to document the opening process. J and I left in the Jeep and ..

Went to another Joshua tree that was blooming along the road because the bloom was lower and the bloom was further along. The wind had picked up, so the bloom was waving in the wind — very frustrating! I took a whole bunch of shots trying to catch it at the end of its motion so it wouldn't be moving too much, and got a shot that was sharp enough to keep (left).

We returned to the RV at 5:30. I downloaded the images I took and did some computer work.

We had dinner at 6:25 of frozen J's Chicken Marsala over angel-hair pasta and leftover Broccoli Slaw Salad.

After dinner, I did more computer work. Then I finished downselecting images from February 28th in Capture One (C1). I processed an image for the blog before going to bed.
