January 3, 2010, a Sunday
Parker (K) to Fort Collins (E&SilJ), Colorado, USA
— A wonderful time with E&SilJ
Had breakfast including New Orleans Style Coffee with Chicory from Lucile's. I worked up a blog entry, then cleaned up some things in the RV. Prepped the RV to move, and J left in the Jeep around 10:45 to run an errand. I finished getting the RV ready to move, and had to use our folding shovel to break through the ice in the gutter that was holding our extension cord hostage. I left around 11:00.
I went to a Loaf N Jug gas station to fill up the RV, and J was already there waiting for me. Gas was $2.369/gal, and I only got a 3¢/gal discount with our King Soopers (Kroger) club card. :( After I filled up the RV, we hooked up the Jeep to tow.
We stopped at my storage unit to drop off and pick up some things.
Then we went to J's father's to drop off and pick up some things. I checked the lug nuts on the rear wheels because J had heard an odd noise from the right-rear wheels. Some of the lug nuts could be snugged up a bit, but none were in danger of falling off. I had some Clif Bars for lunch while J finished collecting her stuff. We left around 12:30.
We went to a Schrader's gas station in Fort Collins around 1:55 to dump, take on water, and get propane — a fantastic one-stop RV maintenance place! It started snowing while I was dumping.
We went to E&SilJ (that's J's daughter E and son-in-law J's) place around 3:00. Our grand-dog Ottmar, a Weimaraner, was happy to see us, and our grand-cat Marklar, who is usually shy and reclusive, came out to visit after a while. E, SilJ, and I shared a 750ml bottle of Odell Brewing Company (a Fort Collins, Colorado, micro-brewery) Bourbon Barrel Stout that was most tasty. :) E, SilJ, and J clipped coupons from the Sunday paper — too much excitement for me. E&SilJ's friend, JR, came over to join us for dinner, and it was fun to get to know him.
We had a delicious dinner that E prepared. We started with a salad with some of the freshest and tastiest spring greens I've had in a long time topped with beets, roasted walnuts, red onions, some cheese, and some of E's balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Then we had some goulash that E had cooked in her crock pot. It had a wonderful flavor. I also enjoyed some Mirassou Pinot Noir with dinner. :)
After dinner, we all visited some more.
J and I returned to the RV around 9:00 and took advantage of an open Wi-Fi network. It was slower than it had been in the past, but it was still nice to get free internet access without eating into our monthly allotment from Verizon Wireless. I listed a bare 250GB IDE hard drive on eBay.
