Wasilla (D&RA), Alaska, USA
— Got the RV exhaust pipe fixed
I awoke much earlier than J, so I pussy footed around the RV so she could get some more sleep. I processed images for the next blog entry, then worked on the blog entry itself. Had my normal breakfast after J got out of bed. I modified this site so that the data transfer between my local machine and the server will go smoother.
We went inside around 11:00 to visit with RA and Tootie (their golden retriever). We also hung the wet tent, etc, up in the basement so it would dry, and I got my RV keys out from inside the tent. :)
We returned to the RV around 12:00 and I folded the rest of my laundry from last night. Took camping things back out to the Jeep. Looked at the RV step mechanism to see what parts would be required to fix/replace the bracket that's involved with retracting the panel below the steps because it had failed when J was driving the RV back from the Teklanika Campground in Denali National Park. Prepped the RV to move, then we left around 2:55 with me in the RV and J following in the Jeep.
We got to the Quality Muffler in Wasilla around 3:10 to have the exhaust pipe repaired. (Read more about the exhaust pipe problem on September 1, 2009.) As I was filling out the paperwork to get checked in, a high-maintenance woman rushed into the office and declared to the service technician that her service-engine-soon light had come on, and then asked him to come right out and look at it. He said one usually makes an appointment so the car's computer can get scanned to find out what's wrong, and the woman insisted that he come out right then to look at it. He went out to look at it, and I told the earthy woman checking me in that they probably get all kinds of people through there. She said something about "those damn women," and I could hardly keep a straight face when the high maintenance woman came back in the office to set up an appointment. We left around 3:15 in the Jeep.
We went to Target at 3:23 to do what I thought would be some fairly quick shopping. We actually did a large haul, including lots of groceries. We left at 4:25.
I dropped J off at Fred Meyer at 4:27 so she could start to do the real grocery shopping while ...
I went to Lowe's at 4:29 to get some pieces to fix the RV step panel retract mechanism. I left at 4:36.
I got back to Fred Meyer around 4:40. Someone was selling German shepherd pups in the parking lot, and the proud mother was standing by ready to feed them. I went in to help J finish shopping. We left around 5:35.
We returned to Quality Muffler around 5:45 and picked up the RV. We left with me in the nice-and-quiet-again RV and J in the Jeep.
We returned to D&RA's. Leveled the RV, unloaded groceries, then hooked up the electricity. I looked at reviews of Apple's new Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) operating system, and they said it's a no-brainer upgrade for current users of Leopard (OS X 10.5) like me and J.
Had dinner around 6:30 of RA's sausage meat loaf, green beans, and hash browns. The meat loaf was most tasty! I did the dishes.
D&RA came out to the RV around 7:15 to visit. They went back inside around 8:40, and I worked up another blog entry.
