July 30, 2009, a Thursday
Wasilla (D&RA), Alaska, USA
— A mostly cloudy day with a little shopping
It was solid overcast when I got out of bed. Had a normal breakfast. Did some online banking. Did some computer work. The sun came out by 11:00! It has been great to look out my office window at the birds coming to the feeders that D has in his yard. A female redpoll landed out on a feeder. So far I've also seen black-capped chickadee, black-billed magpie, female mallard, pine siskin, downy woodpecker, and hairy woodpecker. Worked up the blog entry for yesterday.
Had my normal lunch and did some computer work.
I left at 1:58 by myself in the Jeep to run some errands. First stop was the Post Office to mail some things. Next stop was Target to look for a Command toothbrush holder for J. They didn't have one, so I went to Fred Meyer. They didn't have it so I went to Home Depot. They didn't have one either. Don't you just love running all over trying to give a store your money but they don't really want to take it. :)
I got back to the RV around 3:18 and went outside to photograph some of the birds that were at the feeders. The clouds were almost solid again, but they were thin and the diffuse light would be OK for the birds. Well, the birds hung around for a few minutes then vanished. I waited for about ten minutes with no birds, then came back inside and did some computer work. Of course the birds came back, so I went outside to photograph them again, and the same thing happened. I think they were toying with me!
D came home with a load of sod in the back of his pickup, and J and I went out to help him lay it. I also threw a toy for Tootie, and we both enjoyed that.
D came into the RV and joined us for dinner at 7:05. We had a very tender roast with potatoes, carrots, and onions, that J had been cooking all day in the crock pot.
D went back inside around 8:30 and I did the dishes. J and I split cooking and dishes duties: if one cooks, the other does the dishes. I did more computer work before going to bed.
