September 28, 2010, a Tuesday
Uinta National Forest, Utah, USA
— Moved to a new location
We were awakened by some ATVs around 6:15 and neither of us could go back to sleep. I had my normal breakfast then worked up a blog entry. Then I processed two images for the blog. We prepped the RV to go and left around 10:15 with J in the Jeep and me following in the RV.
We went to the Mill Flat Trailhead to dump using our Flojet Macerator Pump into one of the two pit toilets there. It was nice to have the wiring for the pump permanently installed. We left around 11:15 and ...
Went to the nearby Wasatch Mountain State Park Visitor Center by the golf course to see if we could take on water there. The guy manning the desk said we could and showed us the faucet — what a deal. While we were taking on water, I checked and replied to email. We left around 11:50 with J in the Jeep and me following in the RV and headed up towards Guardsman Pass.
We reached the boondocking spot near Guardsman Pass around 12:25. I could level the RV just by parking it in the correct location, we would get plenty of solar-electric power, and we had a nice strong Verizon Wireless Broadband Access signal — a great spot. The view wasn't as nice as the one we had on September 21, 2010, but it wasn't bad either. I did a few things online before ...
I had lunch around 12:55 while reading some of the September Outdoor Photographer. I purchased a discounted upgrade from Capture One Pro v4 to v5.2 and also an upgrade from Parallels 5 to 6. Then I processed some images for a stock submission before taking an hour-long nap beginning around 4:10.
We had dinner around 5:30 of a TGI Friday's Firecracker Chicken skillet meal.
After dinner, I worked up a blog entry and installed Parallels 6.0 and Capture One Pro 5.2 (C1). Both went without a hitch. I wasn't able to tell a difference with the sped of Internet Explorer (IE) running in Parallels 6 compared to v5. I looked at Garmin street GPS units, and the Garmin nüvi 765t GPS looks like a great model. It has multi-destination routing to automatically place destinations in the best order which is something that would be very useful for us when we run errands in a new city. Plus, it also has Bluetooth connectivity to allow one-touch dialing for locations stored in its database, another great feature when looking for specific items in a new city. And, it's also fairly cheap. You can purchase a Garmin nüvi 765t GPS along with a Garmin eTrex Summit HC GPS for about the same amount as a Garmin Oregon 450 GPS, and the Oregon doesn't do multi-point routing or have Bluetooth. I think I've finally found a good solution for our GPS needs.
