— Photographed moose at Cameron Pass
We got up around 6:00, and conditions were great for moose photography — almost solid cloud cover. I made instant coffee to go and J started a mug of tea steeping. There was some incredible pink color on the clouds as we left in the Jeep around 6:20.
I had Clif Bars for breakfast while driving.
We went to Cameron Pass to see if we could get some good shots of the moose calves we saw last night. When we arrived, the cow with two calves and the cow with the single calf were out in the large patch of willow. I focussed my attention on the cow with two calves. They were on the move from the center of the willow patch towards the woods behind us, and I was only able to get a good shot of the cow with one of her calves (below left). After they crossed the road and headed into the woods, we walked over to the parking lot at the top of the pass and saw the bull moose out in the small patch of willow there. The other cow and calf had crossed the road, and were in the same patch of willow as the bulls. That mother and calf got separated, and we speculated that the first-time mother was trying to wean her calf. The bulls weren't too photogenic among the tall willow, so I followed the single calf around and got some great shots of it (below right). We left after it started to rain.
We returned to the RV around 8:10. I downloaded the images I took this morning then finished downselecting the images from yesterday in Capture One (C1). A cow moose walked by the tree line out my office window. I downselected the images from this morning in iView then processed four images for the blog.
I had lunch around 12:05 then made a batch of my spaghetti sauce. I worked up a blog entry then processed images for a stock submission. It started raining heavily by 3:45.
We had dinner around 5:25 of spaghetti with my spaghetti sauce and Texas Toast. It stopped raining while we were eating. We talked about travel plans for later this year.
I processed more images for a stock submission. Some nice light poked through a small gap in the clouds shortly before sunset.
