I got up before J and processed images for a stock submission. After J got out of bed, I filled the hummingbird feeders, had breakfast, and made another batch of hummingbird feed. I processed more images for a stock submission. We packed up our computers and left in the Jeep around noon.

We went to the Pot Belly Deli & Bar for lunch. I had the Chipotle Chicken Wrap (Crispy chicken tenders, cream cheese, tomato, lettuce, and chipotle ranch wrapped in flour tortilla) with potato salad and J had an off-the-menu BLT with sweet potato fries. The wrap was fantastic and J loved her fries! Unfortunately, neither of us had room for dessert: blueberry pie for me and carrot cake for J.

We went to the Red Feather Lakes Community Library around 12:55 to use their free Wi-Fi. I started to upload the 170 images I had prepared for a stock submission even though I didn't have my usual set of 200 completed. I'll prepare the final 30 and then upload them through my Verizon Wireless connection. Then I worked up a blog entry and did some other things online until we were both ready to leave. We left around 3:30.

We went to West Lake to check it out. There's a nice campground there, but the lake's not the best for photography.

Then we went to the Red Feather Supermarket to pick up some necessities. They had a slightly larger variety than the Red Feather Trading Post, including fresh fruits and vegetables, but neither of us would like to shop there al the time — the selection was very limited.

On our way back to the RV, we explored up another dirt road and found some nice wildflowers, but it was too windy to shoot.

We returned to the RV around 4:40 as it started to rain.

Palm Treo 755 Keyboard Replacement

I decided it was finally time to replace the keyboard on my Palm Treo 755p. You might recall that the "A" and "Option" keys had stopped working properly so I ordered a replacement Membrane PCB Keyboard on June 24, 2010. I delayed installing the keyboard because I thought I might be getting a Droid X, and I could live with a faulty keyboard for a while. After deciding not to get a Droid X becuase the Fliq Notes app for Android devices isn't quite up to speed, and after the "P" and "O" keys on my Palm started to act up too, I figured it was finally time to bite the bullet and replace the keyboard. I had found the official Disassembly Instructions for Palm Treo 755 Smartphone online, and replacing the keyboard looked straightforward, as long as you had a No 5 Torx driver, a No 0 Phillips screwdriver, and a small pry device, which I did. It was easy to get access to the keyboard, but I broke the connector for the keyboard cable as I was trying to disconnect it. After I mangled it, I discovered that the connector is basically a socket that accepts the bare ribbon cable, and then there's a friction lock that snaps in place at the edge. I hope the piece of adhesive tape that was covering the connector will be sufficient to help hold the latch in place after I broke off one side of it. Anyways, putting the Treo back together went well. The Palm powered up and the keyboard worked. :) Not only did the keyboard work, it felt like it was a brand new phone! All of the keys had a nice crisp action and I couldn't be happier. $9.99 for the new keyboard and about half an hour of my time was sure cheaper than $149.99 for a Droid X plus probably an hour or more of my time to set it up.

I did some computer work. When J started to make dinner of a P.F. Chang's Home Menu Orange Chicken meal, she discovered that it only required one skillet. I volunteered to cook because one-skillet meals are my specialty and J likes it when I cook. I started cooking and when I opened up the lid to stir it part way through, I realized that it was only Orange Chicken — there was no rice or noodles — so much for the one-skillet meal. I rooted through our cabinets to find some rice, and was only able to find brown rice. I turned down the heat on the Orange Chicken and made a batch of rice.

We had dinner around 6:35 of the P.F. Chang's Home Menu Orange Chicken and brown rice. The Orange Chicken sauce and vegetables (carrots and edamame) were good, but the chicken was a bland "nugget" kind of thing with not much texture at all. The rice was as bad as ever. It has an unappealing texture and flavor for me, but it was better than no rice at all to go along with the Orange Chicken.

After dinner, I processed more images for a stock submission and prepared two images for the blog. The image of Sunrise at Sylvan Lake (far left) was created from two captures that were combined in Photoshop by hand to balance the exposure between the bright sky and dark foreground.
