April 19, 2010, a Monday
Parker (K), Colorado, to Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
— Flew to Pennsylvania
I awoke a few minutes before the alarm we had set, then had my normal breakfast. I left in the Jeep around 8:10.

I dropped off a package at the local UPS Store and then went to the Post Office to drop off two more packages and pick up some replacement shipping boxes.

I returned to the RV around 8:25 and finished getting things ready for us to fly to Philly. DilK (Daughter-in-law K) arrived around 9:05 to take us to the airport.

We stopped to get some gas in her car before heading to the airport.

We reached Denver International Airport (DEN) around 9:50 in plenty of time for our 11:15 flight. We had checked in online, so I only had to drop off our one checked bag at the counter before going to security. Before going through security, we went through the Thomas Mangelson Gallery. He had some nice images, but J thought some were over-sharpened. J had a little difficulty going through security because she forgot about her iPhone and it set off the metal detector. We reached the gate and I started reading The Number of the Beast by Robert A. Heinlein. I've read a number of Heinlein books and absolutely loved Stranger in a Strange Land. We boarded the A321 for US Airways flight 482 to Philadelphia (PHL) and sat in seats 5B and 5C — the bulkhead seats. J loves bulkhead seats, but I prefer to sit further back so you don't have to stare at a wall right in front of you. I must say that the additional leg room was welcome though. We took off at 11:23.

I continued reading The Number of the Beast and had Clif Bars for lunch instead of purchasing a snack box or whatever they were peddling. J ate some almonds and a granola bar. The flight was smooth and went quickly as I was engrossed in the book. I stopped reading as we were approaching Philadelphia because we were coming in over the are where I had grown up and it was nice to see familiar landmarks, in particular the Limerick nuclear power plant and the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution at Graterford. Had I been sitting in the window seat, I probably would have been able to see the house where I grew up.

We touched down at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) at 4:35 (2:35 MST). We had to wait quite a while for our checked bag to arrive at the baggage carousel because got off the airplane so quickly. My cousin's wife KA and her father R were waiting to pick us up after we finally got our bag. We left around 5:15.

We went to the Morgan Hughes Homestead B&B in Lansdale to check in. It's a nice B&B housed in an early 1700s farmhouse. We stayed there on our visit in 2009 and returned because it was a nice convenient place. We left around 6:25.

We stopped to pick up some pizzas that we had ordered from Laura's Pizza in Harleysville, then ...

Went to KA's and my mother was waiting for us when we arrived. We had dinner of the two large pizzas (one cheese and one pepperoni) followed by home-made apple pie and ice cream. The pie was delicious! We visited a bit after dinner and played some Wii bowling with KA's kids, MA (11) and JA (9). KA gave us a ride back to the B&B.

We returned to the B&B around 9:15, and my first order of business was to find the smoke detector with a weak battery because it was chirping every now and then. I disconnected the battery, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. We went online through the Verizon Wireless Broadband signal. I hadn't gotten paid for the remaining items I had sold on eBay, so I sent out invoices to prompt the buyers. I worked up a blog entry, and by the time I was done I had gotten paid for one of the items I had sold on eBay. :)
