April 8, 2010, a Thursday
Chiricahuas (Sunny Flat), Arizona, to San Antonio (San Antonio Riverside Park), New Mexico, USA
— Photographed in the Chiricahuas then moved down the road
I had my normal breakfast then started to prep the RV to move. We left around 7:55 in the Jeep.

We went to Cave Creek Ranch to see the coati. While waiting for them to show up, we photographed some birds. I got a much better image of a female Acorn Woodpecker (far left) than yesterday and a nice image of a male Northern Cardinal (near left). However, the light wasn't as good for photography as it was yesterday afternoon — the direction was wrong. Two Coues Deer, a subspecies of White-Tail Deer, came into the yard with the feeders, but the coati didn't appear before we left.

We returned to the RV around 9:55 and finished prepping the RV to move. We left at 10:20 with me in the RV and J following in the Jeep.

We stopped just before leaving the Coronado National FOrest to hook up the Jeep to tow. We got underway at 10:31.

We entered New Mexico at 11:43 (10:43 Arizona time). We took NM-80 north and got on I-10 heading east at 12:15.

We stopped at a rest area near Lordsburg at 12:35 to use their free Wi-Fi, and it was a nice fast connection. :) I worked up a blog entry then started to download a System Update.

I had lunch of a Genoa salami and swiss sandwich with Coca Cola Classic followed by a banana and a red delicious apple. I downloaded the images I took this morning while looking at camera gear on eBay. I saw that HiTech makes reverse graduated neutral density filters that are 4x6 in (100x150mm). Reverse graduated neutral density filters have a hard transition from clear to the neutral density in the middle of the filter, then gradually reduce density towards the top. It's designed for conditions where there's a bright horizon, like at sunset or sunrise, and the reverse part helps keep the sky at the top of the frame from being too dark. I downselected images in iView then Capture One (C1). I bought a B+W 82mm Kaesemann MRC Circular Polarizer for my new Canon TS-E 24mm f3.5 L II tilt-shift lens through a Buy-It-Now on eBay. It was the same price as from B&H, but I'll earn eBay bucks this way. We got underway at 3:25.

I listened to an episode of Car Talk.

We stopped at the Sav-O-Mat gas station in Deming at 4:35 to fill up the RV at $2.759/gal. We left at 4:47.

We took NM-26 north out of town then got on I-25 north at Hatch. I listened to another episode of Car Talk.

We reached San Antonio Riverside Park in San Antonio around 7:35, and I took a shower.

We had dinner of steak fajitas with fresh guacamole — mmm.

After dinner, I used the nice fast internet connection through our Verizon Wireless Broadband signal to do some things online.
