— Photographed birds at the Salton Sea
We were both able to sleep later this morning than we had for the last couple of days. I made instant coffee to go and we left at 6:40 in the Jeep.
I had Clif Bars for breakfast on our way to photograph the burrowing owls that we learned about from our friend S from San Pedro. We photographed them for a while, then went to look for some white-faced ibis. We didn't find any, so we went to photograph the burrowing owls we had photographed on our previous visits to the Salton Sea. Our favorite pair was out, but one flew as we approached, so we just photographed the cooperative owl.
Then we took our normal driving loop by the Salton Sea through the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge. We photographed a very cooperative great egret from several vantage points including backlit (far left). We also photographed two black-necked stilts feeding (near left), Caspian terns and California brown pelicans in flight, and some double-crested cormorants in breeding plumage. It was a good morning!
We returned to the RV around 11:05. I downloaded the images I took this morning then did some computer work.
I had lunch around 11:40, then processed four more images for the blog. I worked up a blog entry then downselected images from this morning in iView. I took a nap from 4:40 to 5:20 — longer than my usual half-hour nap. I started to downselect the images from today in Capture One (C1). We left at 6:45 in the Jeep.
We went to Ballesteros (Mexican Restaurant) in Niland around 7:00. I had enchiladas (two chicken, one beef) and a Negra Modelo and J had Chili Rellenos. The food wasn't anything special, but it was nice to go out to eat.
We returned to the RV around 7:55. I finished downselecting images form today in Capture One (C1) and selected two images for the blog.
