We took it easy this morning. I had my normal breakfast, and opened up a new 2.2-lb bag of LavAzza Gran Filtro Dark Roast Whole Bean coffee. I processed three images for the blog then started to work up a blog entry. I left at 10:27 by myself in the Jeep.

I listened to an episode of Car Talk.

I went to the FedEx Office Print & Ship Center (formerly FedEx Kinko's) in Flagstaff at 11:32 to pick up two packages that were being held there for me. One was the Lee ProGlass ND 0.9 (3-stop neutral density) filter that the seller "conveniently" sent overnight to make up for delayed shipping because he was out of town when the eBay auction ended. I had initially requested that he send it to the post office in Sedona for general delivery pickup, and with the delay of changing the address (he tried to FedEx it to the post office which isn't allowed), I could have gotten it sooner via priority mail. The second package was a set of CDs and DVDs with images submitted by members of the Mile High Wildlife Photography Club (MHWPC) to be considered for the club's entry in the Nature's Best Photography competition. Over the next week, I'll post them on the club website in a secure area where the Masters of the club will rank the images to select the top 50. Then those 50 will be presented to a group of six final judges who will rank them online individually, then meet face to face to determine the images that will be sent to Nature's Best Photography.

I went to a nearby Conoco to fill up the Jeep at $2.619/gal. I started heading back to Sedona at 11:45.

I returned to the RV at 12:50, and I was starving! The drive took longer than I thought it would, so I didn't bring some Clif Bars to eat. I had my regular lunch with the delicious Chompie's Original New York Deli Seedless Rye bread, and started to copy the files from the CDs and DVDs onto my hard drive. I opened up the new Lee ProGlass ND 0.9 (3-stop neutral density) filter, and it came with a cleaning cloth — way cool! I finished the blog entry and finished copying the images from the CDs and DVDs. We left at 4:05 in the Jeep.

We went to the Art Mart coop in Sedona so I could show J the photography.

Then we went to the Chapel of the Holy Cross so J could photograph it. It has a clean design built into the red rock — I think Frank Lloyd Wright would approve.

Then we went to Bell Rock. It was already in shade from another formation, but we waited around because the thin layer of clouds might have lit up and made for some interesting photography. We left when a contrail passed over Bell Rock and didn't start to dissipate.

We stopped at most of the scenic overlooks on the way back to Sedona to see what else we might be able to photograph. We settled on some interesting formations with clean (no contrails) clouds behind them, and waited. The clouds developed some color which is more than we had had yet, but it still wasn't very spectacular.

We returned to the RV around 6:50. I downloaded the images I took and started to downselect them.

We had dinner at 7:05 of previously-baked chicken enchiladas and fresh guacamole.

After dinner, we turned on the generator for an hour because we didn't get enough solar-electric power today with the thin cloud layer. I finished downselecting my images then processed one for the blog. I started working up a blog entry.
