January 27, 2010, a Wednesday
San Antonio (San Antonio Riverside Park) to Elephant Butte Lake State Park (South Monticello), New Mexico, USA
— Moved to Elephant Butte Lake State Park
Had my normal breakfast and did some computer work. We left around 10:55 with J driving.
We reached the South Monticello Campground of Elephant Butte Lake State Park at 12:10. We unhooked the Jeep at the dump station then dumped. We occupied Site 25, and were level, hooked up to electricity, and watered by 1:00. The SealSkinz® Waterproof Gloves didn't work as well as I had hoped. They kept my hands dry while watering the RV, but the velcro strap we use to tie up the electrical cord stuck to the gloves. I think I'll have to get a pair of neoprene gloves for doing those jobs, and I'll be able to use the SealSkinz® Waterproof Gloves to hook up and unhook the Jeep. While I was doing the outside stuff, J put out the slide, vacuumed the floors, and started to wash our area rugs. It was nice to have the slide out! We hadn't had it out since we left Bernardo, New Mexico, on December 18, 2009. I did some more computer work, then finally ...
Had lunch around 1:40! I looked at the iPad that Apple just announced. It looks like a cool device, but I don't think it would be useful for me. I started to work up a blog entry. J left around 2:40 to go for a walk, and I did some dusting with the vacuum cleaner. I finished the blog entry, and J returned around 3:15. I rearranged some things in our outside compartments to make room for some items that we had been carrying inside the RV that didn't have a good home. J went over to see our friend Andy Baird, and I started to make my spaghetti sauce. I turned on the Klipsch iFi for the first time since leaving Parker, Colorado, on January 15, 2010. I worked up ads to sell my Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8 L USM (Mk I) and B+W 77mm slim UV and circular polarizer filters on eBay. J returned around 6:00.
We had dinner at 6:40 of spaghetti with my special sauce and Great Value (WalMart brand) spaghetti pasta — the regular kind, not whole wheat. :) I also had a glass of Charles Shaw Merlot from Trader Joe's — a nice pairing with spaghetti — mmm.
After dinner, I listed the Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8 L USM (Mk I) and B+W 77mm slim UV and circular polarizer filters on eBay. Then I downselected the images from yesterday in Capture One (C1).
