— Crazy Townsend's solitaire
Light snow was falling when I got out of bed around 7:20 and there was a dusting of fresh snow on the ground. It was dull and gray out too. I worked up a blog entry. We turned on the generator around 9:40 for an hour and a half. I packed up the Hitachi 250GB IDE hard drive that I sold recently on eBay. Someone did a Buy-It-Now on one of J's items on eBay, so she packed that up too. The snow had stopped and the sky was partly cloudy. A Townsend's solitaire outside our RV wasn't happy that another bird had invaded its territory — it kept attacking its reflection in our windows! I left in the Jeep around 11:10 to take the two packages to the Abiquiu Post Office.
I returned to the RV around 11:45 and had lunch. The Townsend's solitaire was still attacking its reflection, and it entertained me as I ate.
I went outside around 12:30 to photograph the Townsend's solitaire. It used several perches right next to the RV between attacks, and two of them were really good for photography. :) After a while, it landed on top of the trash can at our site to drink some water about 4 ft (1.2m) away from me — cool. A bald eagle flew over too high to photograph.
I went back inside the RV around 1:20 after the clouds had moved back in. I downloaded the images I took then downselected them first in iView and then in Capture One (C1). The editor from Popular Photography magazine let me know that none of my images were selected for their upcoming article tentatively titled "Secrets of the World's Best Wildlife Photographers." There may be some opportunities for me to work with them in the future. The clouds started to break again, so we left in the Jeep around 4:00 and ...
We went to the same area as yesterday near Ghost Ranch to photograph the rock formations in the nice afternoon light. The dark sky behind them was dramatic.
We returned to the RV around 5:20 and I downloaded the images I took.
We had dinner around 6:20 of leftover J's Chicken Marsala over angel-hair pasta with green beans, and it was very tasty.
We turned on the generator at 7:00 for two and a half hours. I processed two images for the blog, then started to work up a blog entry.
