July 31, 2010, a Saturday
near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, USA
— Processed images then explored and photographed wildflowers
We got up around our normal time and I had my usual breakfast. Then I processed two images for the blog and worked up a blog entry. I processed images for a stock submission and discovered a nice feature in Photoshop CS5 Camera RAW. I saved a new set of default settings so that when I open a TIFF file in Camera RAW, it will automatically set the noise reduction values the way I want them. :)
I had lunch at 12:10 and read through the June 1010 Popular Photography. I had dropped my subscription to it several years ago because I didn't like it as much as Outdoor Photography. Recently, J got a great deal on a subscription for it, so we're getting it again. J put out our hummingbird feeder and I processed more images for a stock submission then did some computer work.
We had dinner at 5:40 of leftover Chili Crusted Pork, J's special green beans, and Lipton Herbed Rice. First one, then two, female Broad-Tail Hummingbirds came to our feeder.
We left in the Jeep around 6:45 to go exploring.
As we were driving down a dirt road that looked like good moose habitat, J said she was surprised that we hadn't seen any yet. A few seconds later, a big bull moose was standing in the road! He didn't like us coming so he dashed off into the thick woods. We kept driving and found some other nice boondocking spots.
On our way back to the RV, we stopped to photograph some Wild Licorice (far left). As J was heading off to find a bloom that she liked, she discovered a Snowshoe Hare hiding in the bushes. Later, while she was photographing the Wild Licorice, a bull moose came up within 10 yds (10m) of her. After I finished with the Wild Licorice, I turned my attention to some Purple Loco (near left). As you may note from the 20-second exposure, it was getting quite dark by that time and we left shortly after that exposure.
We returned to the RV around 9:05. I downloaded the images I took then downselected them in Capture One (C1). I did some computer work before going to bed.
