March 30, 2010, a Tuesday
near Patagonia, Arizona, USA
— Photographed birds at the Paton's and moved to another boondocking spot
I got out of bed before J and did some computer work. I had my normal breakfast after J got out of bed, then did some more computer work. We left at 8:10 in the Jeep.
Went to the Paton's in Patagonia to photograph birds. We brought along our own hummingbird feeder today because it's more convenient for photography. Unfortunately, the birds didn't like it too much even when we hung it exactly where one of their regular feeders had been hanging. My best image of the morning was of a perched broad-billed hummingbird (left). I saw my first Costa's hummingbird.
We returned to the RV at 11:15 and then prepped the RV to move. It was extremely dusty around the RV yesterday as the traffic went up and down the road, so we decided to move today. We left around 11:25 with me in the RV and J following in the Jeep.
We reached one of the boondocking spots we found yesterday around 11:50. After we were level, I cleaned the dust off the solar-electric panels.
I had lunch around 12:15 while reading more of the March 2010 Outdoor Photographer. I downloaded the images I took this morning and downselected them first in iView then in Capture One (C1). I processed a bunch of images for a stock submission, then I selected and processed an image for the blog. The weather forecast had been for strong winds this afternoon (20-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph, or 30-50 kph with gusts to 80 kph), but there was only a very light breeze. We had delayed our departure here because of the predicted winds today and rain tomorrow
We had dinner around 6:05 of Bertolli Mediterranean Style Lemon Herb Shrimp & Penne and a simple salad. The Bertolli was a bit too lemony for me but J absolutely loved it.
After J did the dishes, I took a shower then J took a shower. I worked up a blog entry then read some camera reviews online before doing some computer work.
