January 15, 2010, a Friday
Parker (K) to Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Colorado, USA
— On the road again ...
Made coffee to go and left by myself around 9:05 in the Jeep.
I went to my storage unit to drop off some last-minute things.
I returned to the RV around 9:45 and we prepped the RV to move. J left in the Jeep around 10:25 to run some errands, and I left at the same time in the RV.
I went to SJ&DilK's (J's Son J and Daughter-in-law K's) to fill up the RV fresh water tank. I also picked up some mail that we had had sent there, including the extension hose for our Dyson DC24 vacuum and the Cabela's Medium-Weight Polartec® Power Dry Drawer - Tall from the seller on eBay.
I went to the Town of Castle Rock Public Works building around 11:30 to dump. J arrived as I was finishing.
We went to the Propane Shack in Castle Rock to load up the RV with propane.
Then we went to a self-serve car wash across the street to quickly wash off the salt and road grime from the RV. We hooked up the Jeep to tow, and I made a quick temporary repair to our Protect-A-Tow. We left at 12:50.
I had Clif Bars while driving south on I-25.
We stopped at a Loaf N Jug in Pueblo just off I-25 at 2:40, and the gas was expensive. We looked for cheaper gas online, and left.
We went to a Loaf N Jug on the west side of Pueblo and loaded up on the much cheaper gas: $2.399/gal with our 10¢ King Soopers (Kroger) discount.
I listened to an episode of Car Talk.
We entered Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve at 5:15, just after the 5:06 sunset. Nice color started forming on some clouds around 5:22, but it wasn't worth stopping to photograph.
We occupied Site 39 in the campground and were level by 6:05. Some mule deer were close by. I opened up the extension hose we just got for the Dyson DC24 vacuum, and it doesn't have the adaptor we need — I thought the customer support person didn't understand my question on January 6, 2010. It works just fine as an extension hose, but we still can't use the accessories I bought on eBay — I'll have to buy the adaptor I thought we needed.
We had dinner around 6:35 of J's stuffed peppers and corn. I had a banana, then we each had some Gorge-Us bars for dessert.
I worked up a blog entry and did some computer work before going to bed.
