December 26, 2009, a Saturday
Parker (K), Colorado, USA
— Purchased Dyson DC24 vacuum cleaner, and it really sucks :)
We took it easy this morning. I had my normal breakfast and worked up a blog entry. I did some computer work. We left at 12:35 in the Jeep.
We went to the Taco Bell in Parker for some free Drive-Through Diet Fresco Tacos and I also got a regular soft taco. J liked the non-greasy nature of the Fresco Taco, and I preferred the soft taco.
We went to the Parker Library to drop off and pick up things.
We went to Target to pick up a Dyson DC24 All Floors vacuum cleaner. J doesn't like the colors on the unit, so we almost got a special limited-edition Blueprint model of the DC24. It has white plastic in place of the usual brown and orange plastic, and we both preferred it for overall looks. However, we went with the standard DC24 because it won't show dirt as much. We also picked up some discounted Christmas wrapping paper, two area rugs for the RV, and groceries.
We returned to the RV around 2:45. I set up the Dyson DC24 All Floors vacuum cleaner and J tested it out. It's a lot quieter than my old canister, and the narrower beater brush even fits between the dinette supports and the seats. After J finished doing the floors, I tried using the brush at the end of the built-in hose. The hose is really short and the brush angle isn't as good as on the old canister vacuum. I left in the Jeep to go throw away the shipping box and donate our old dust-buster-like toy vacuum. The Dyson will go where the toy vacuum was in the office, and I'll take the old canister vacuum to my storage unit. I did some computer work when I returned.
J made dinner of Trader Joe's mushroom-and-something ravioli, supplemented by some bow-tie pasta, in Trader Joe's Vodka sauce. She also made a nice Greek Salad.
After doing the dishes, I took apart the strainer that's just upstream of our water pump. There was some debris on the filter, but not enough to cause a blockage. I soaked the filter in some vinegar to dissolve any calcium deposits while we watched an episode of Desperate Housewives. I re-installed the filter in the strainer, and turned the water pump back on, and it's as noisy as ever. :( I looked into accessories for the Dyson, and they make an extension hose and a Multi-Angle Brush that might convert the DC24 into a suitable canister replacement.
